The skin is composed of 2 parks 1) Outer epidermis and 2) Inner epidermis. Epidermis is superficial part of skin composed of keratinized stratified squamous epithelium. Epidermis is composed of several layers of cells which is divided into superficial stratum corneum to inner stratumgerminatum. The cells of stratum corneum are flat, thin, non-nucleated, in which protoplasm is replaced by keratin stratum germinatum consists of stratum lucidum which has cells with clear protoplasm without any nucleus in it. And The stratum granulose which contains granular cytoplasm and nuclears. It also contains sweat duct. The epidermis contains based lager which has melanoblast which secrete melanin that gives co lour to the skin. The more the thickness of this layer, the darker is the co lour of skin . The epidermis has projections of cells in dermis called papillae. This gives different finger prints in different individuals Dermis is tough and elastic and composed of white fibrous tissue and yellow elastic fibres. In the deeper layers it contains subcutaneous tissues such as areolar and adipose tissue. The dermis also contains a network at blood vessels, lymphatic and hair follicles sebaceous glands along with hair follies and involuntary muscles, Arteriole form fine network of capillary in this region that supply blood to sweat glands sebaceous glands, hair follicles and deeper layers of epidermis cells, Lymph vessels also form a networks through out the dermis and also in the deeper layers of epidermis. It secretes sebum into the hair follicle and makes the hair soft and shining also it has a water proofing action. It also acts as a bactericidal agnt. Director muscles are the bundles of involuntary muscles connected to the hair follicle on contraction, those muscles make hair stand erect. These are stimulated by sympathetic nervous system in fear and in response to cold is called as goose-flesh.
